Every day at Leading Edge, we create opportunities for children to socialize with and learn from one another. For example, we offer interactive games, structured physical play, and group projects. During snack times, we also encourage children to talk, have fun and unwind, with teacher participation to support positive interactions.

Our teacher intervention and instruction is based on specific learning objectives, which are aligned to match learning standards. In addition to our daily Homework and Reading Labs, we integrate academic-based activities throughout the program in fun ways to promote learning and build confidence.

Our structured activities set students up to work in groups and cooperate on a common objective. We understand the direct link between positive social experiences and academic success.
Exploration
At Leading Edge, students are encouraged to embark on a journey of exploration during our programs with opportunities to choose activities within our lab-based structure. Through hands-on activities, immersive experiences, and interactive projects, we cultivate an atmosphere that ignites a love for learning, fuels curiosity, and nurtures intrinsic motivation.
Reading Lab
Reading Lab
We offer group reading of developmentally-appropriate books led by a teacher. This includes questions and vocabulary review throughout, student reflection and discussion. In addition, to encourage reading in our program and at home, we have our “Lift Off to Literacy” initiative, which helps track and encourage reading through celebrations and recognition of each student’s reading accomplishments.
STEM Lab
STEM Lab
This lab features hands-on projects that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. Students will navigate the design process in unique engineering challenges, participate in math-based games, learn how science impacts their daily lives and much more.
Art Enrichment Lab
Art Enrichment Lab
This lab features hands-on activities that utilize a variety of mediums to challenge students to be creative. Students are given guidelines but also the freedom to interpret the activity in unique ways.
Challenge Lab
Challenge Lab
This lab offers fun and intellectually stimulating games that will activate students’ brainpower and competitive instincts. Students choose which activities they wish to participate in.
Connection
Leading Edge bridges the gap between home and school. With our inclusive homework support, you’ll gain your evenings back with your children, plus you’ll always stay connected while they are away from you through Class Dojo, our interactive app. We also provide opportunities for in-person family involvement at our programs. By providing a seamless connection between home and school, Leading Edge strengthens family bonds, promotes a shared sense of purpose, and offers families peace of mind, knowing their children are receiving high-quality care, enriching experiences, and a nurturing support system.

In our Homework Lab, we utilize a 3-step review process to assist students, audit their work for completion and correctness, and communicate with families if additional review help is needed.

Class Dojo
Our teachers utilize this app to keep families informed and showcase their students’ time in Leading Edge. Our team works hard to ensure that every minute is worth it for our students and we value capturing all the fun moments. Families will build close-knit relationships with the onsite team through in app messages, videos, and photos.
Community Invovlement
Community Invovlement
We are always looking for ways to involve families in our programs. We have an Observation Day in the fall, we invite parents/guardians to come and read to students, and we like to share special celebrations and milestones so we can all celebrate each other.

Student to Teacher Ratios
Student to Teacher Ratios
Our best practice is to staff all programs with 8 or more students with 2 or more teachers. As a result, our average student to teacher ratio is 11:1, well below the state mandated requirements. We believe these staffing levels create a nurturing environment that ensures both the safety and growth of our students.
Supervision
Supervision
We supervise children in our program constantly by sight and by sound. We post teachers in the hallway or by a bathroom when students go, and we are vigilant during our time outdoors to ensure children are always in our line of sight. Children do not leave our sight upon dismissal. Parents have to come to the door, we check their ID, and they have to physically sign their children out.

Staff Qualifications & Background Checks
Leading Edge is committed to only hiring qualified educationally oriented professionals. All staff have cleared a criminal history and restricted registry check. While the background checks through Leading Edge are comprehensive, we will conduct additional screenings as required by state law. Our program also has staff certified in First Aid and CPR available and accessible to children at all times.

Each location is supported by a team of dedicated professionals, which includes a lead teacher, assistant teachers, site director, area director, and regional director. Leading Edge sets the standard for having the most qualified and talented teachers by adhering to stringent state licensing and regulatory requirements, ensuring that each educator meets the necessary qualifications and certifications.

Our programs are staffed with experienced teachers who are deeply committed to the growth and development of children. They are positive and encouraging, and they understand child development and the social-emotional factors that affect student behavior.

Each site has a director who manages the teaching staff, ensures adherence to our safety and licensing standards, and regularly communicates with families, school day teachers and administrators. In addition, we have area directors and a regional director to support our sites, directors and teachers. This entire team is involved in supporting our students and families to ensure they get the most out of their time with Leading Edge.
