Dear Families,

It is with great excitement that we announce our third annual Lift Off to Literacy reading drive. Here’s everything you need to know.

Lift Off to Literacy began as a reading pilot for our students in 2023 to generate confidence in and excitement for reading, to boost comprehension, and to celebrate the successes and milestones achieved.

Students will begin tracking their reading on March 10th and the drive will end on April 11th. Each location will create and name a team rocket, and we’ll be sharing weekly updates as to how your student’s team is performing. We encourage students to read at least fifteen minutes a day. This reading can be done during the school day, during before and after school time, or at home. Please assist your student in notifying your teachers (during drop off and pick up times) how much they read. Students will then add their time to their individual log as well as to the class chart. At the end of the six weeks, you and your student will be invited to a closing ceremony to celebrate their success.

All students will be provided with a Lift Off to Literacy packet that will stay with them at our program. During their time with us, students will have the opportunity to read fun books, learn new vocabulary, and practice writing to count toward their minutes.
